INO is excited to exhibit archival prints (2018 and 2022) from the renowned photographer Sally Gall, shown courtesy of the artist and Winston Wachter Fine Art, New York.

About the artist:

Sally Gall lives and works in New York City. Her photographs have been exhibited internationally and are held in numerous museum and private collections. She is the author of three books, The Water’s Edge, Subterranea and Heavenly Creatures, and has received numerous honors, including two MacDowell Colony Fellowships and a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Residency.

In her words:

“For forty years I have photographed the beauty and mystery of the natural world—its elemental and sometimes terrifying aspects, its silence, its persistence. I photograph with an ever-deepening appreciation for how this place shapes us, even as we shape it with our passage.

My newest body of work, Vertical Worlds, considers the most elemental of the earth’s raw materials: rock. In the skin of the earth, in what seems to be an inert world of hardness, I found movement and change. My goal was to photograph the earth in action—a sculptural world created by wind, rain, erosion, mudslides, earthquakes, geothermal activity and time.

Many of these actions are infinitesimally slow, conceptually hard to embrace, as they bear no relationship to our human time. Rock time. Rock speaks of eternity.”

'ino is pleased to exhibit three of Sally 's photographic prints rom 2022 in the rear Skylight dining room, and three of her 1988 works in the front bar room.
